Powder coating and shot blasting facilities
ProTec offer shot blasting and powder coating services for all Fortress doors and shutters. The process ensures all products remain highly resistant to weathering and rust whilst producing a consistent high quality paint finish.
The products are first rigorously washed to remove any surface debris/ manufacturing oils and lubricants. Next the items are electrostatically sprayed using free flowing dry powder paint. The paint is given a positive electric charge which readily adheres to the electrically grounded item for painting. This process is highly efficient and leaves a thick even finish which is significantly more durable than liquid paint equivalents.
Powder coating is also more environmentally friendly than standard liquid based painting. The coatings emit zero or near zero volatile organic compounds, in addition over spray can be recycled and thus it is possible to achieve nearly 100% use of the coating.
After the item has been painted it is transferred to a curing oven within which the thermoset powder paint is exposed to around 200°C for about 10 minutes. This exposure causes the paint particles to melt and bond forming a networked structure which gives the coat its strength and longevity.
Fortress ProTec are able to provide powder coating in a wide range of colours. Click here to see the basic Protec colour palette. Please contact us to discuss the full range of options if a unique colour or finish type is required.
