Fire curtains are concealed, drop down barriers, designed to contain the spread of fire in an emergency. The curtains eliminate the requirement for solid fire walls which facilitates open plan design. The system has minimal visual impact and is housed within a 200mm head box which can be recessed into the roof. Fire curtains are lightweight and much safer to building occupants upon descent than a traditional fire shutter. In extreme circumstances trapped occupants / emergency services can force a passage under the curtain system. Curtains are suitable for use in most situations but are most useful to designs incorporating large open plan spaces such as, shopping centers, airports, exhibition halls, hospitals, universities etc.
Each curtain is constructed from Fortress 120+ Fire Shield Fabric™ - reinforced woven glass-fibre base fabric coated with a heat reflective micronised aluminium polymer. One Fire curtain has a fire integrity of 2 hours resistance. The curtain is fixed to a head box with two guides on either side. All of the framing components come standard in galvanised steel however can be powder coated in a range of colours, please see palette.
An activation system links into the buildings fire alarm/ A signal from the fire alarm will activate the drive-roller mechanism to lower the curtain to the operational position.
